How your customer pays

Bank transfer with your IBAN, a payment QR code on the PDF, and — if your organization has Mollie enabled — an online payment button.

Every invoice you send carries your bank details: the invoice PDF shows the IBAN of the business account selected on the invoice, plus the payment reference. That’s the route that always works — your customer transfers the amount themselves.

The payment QR code

AirBill adds a SEPA payment QR code (the EPC “GiroCode”) to the invoice PDF automatically. Scanning it with a banking app pre-fills the transfer. Not every bank app supports it, so the printed details stay on the invoice as well.

The code is added when the invoice meets the conditions for a euro transfer:

  • the invoice currency is EUR;
  • the business account on the invoice has an IBAN;
  • there’s a beneficiary name;
  • the total is positive.

There’s no setting for it — an invoice that meets those conditions gets the code, one that doesn’t simply shows the payment details without it.

The online invoice page

Every issued invoice has a public link you can share (Share payment link, or ⋯ → Copy link). Your customer opens it without signing in and sees the invoice with the payment details.

If your organization has an enabled Mollie integration, that page also shows a Pay now button so they can pay online, and the payment is reconciled for you. Without it, the page is a view-and-transfer page: the invoice and your IBAN, no online payment button.

Registering the payment

Payments into a connected bank account are recognized and matched automatically. Paid another way — cash, or into an account AirBill doesn’t sync? Open the invoice and choose Mark as → Paid, which registers the payment as of today.
