You don't receive the SMS code

What to check when the 6-digit security code doesn't arrive, is refused, or verification is temporarily blocked.

The verify screen counts down 30 seconds before Resend code becomes tappable. Wait for it, then request a new code — and use the newest one, because an older code no longer works.

Check your number first

Go back one screen and check the country code and the number. A number entered with the wrong country code will look valid and still never receive anything.

The phone-number screen with the Dutch country code preselected, a test number entered, and the “Send code” button enabled.
The number screen. The country code sits in front of the number and is easy to overlook.

Delivery speed depends on your mobile operator, so give a fresh code a minute before requesting another.

What the error messages mean

  • Incorrect code — the digits don’t match the most recent code. If you requested several, only the last one counts.
  • Code expired — request a new one; codes are only valid for a short while.
  • Too many attempts — verification is temporarily blocked. Wait a few minutes, then request a fresh code.

Still nothing

Sign in with Google or Apple instead. It’s the same account only if you used that method before, so if your account was created with a phone number, keep trying the code — switching methods would create a second, empty account.
