Open your device settings, find AirBill, and check that notifications are allowed. This gate is outside AirBill: no setting inside the app can open it.
Notifications are not arriving
Work through the layers in order — your phone's permission, AirBill's master switch, the category, and the device itself — to find where notifications are being stopped.
A notification has to clear several gates before it reaches you. Work down this list — the first gate that’s closed is usually the whole answer.
-
Check your phone's permission for AirBill
-
Look for the banner in AirBill
Open Profile → Notifications. If your phone is blocking them, the screen shows Notifications are turned off for AirBill with an Open settings button. That banner is a definitive answer — fix this before checking anything else.
This banner means your phone is blocking AirBill's notifications — no in-app setting can override it. -
Check the master switch
Still on that screen, check Allow notifications at the top. With it off, no category sends anything.
-
Check the category you're waiting on
Under Notify me about, expand the group that covers what you expected — Invoices, Documents, Connections, or Accountant. A group can be on while the category you care about is off.
When the settings all look right
- Check the right device. The master switch, categories, and detail setting follow your account, but each phone still needs its own notification permission and a working registration. A phone you’ve signed out of no longer receives your notifications.
- Check the right business. Notifications follow the business the event happened in.
- Check focus and battery modes. Focus, Do Not Disturb, and low-power modes can hold notifications back at the system level.
- Reopen AirBill. The app re-checks your phone’s permission when it returns to the foreground.
Still nothing? Contact support from Profile → Support and mention which notification you expected and when.
Common problems
A banner pops up in the app but nothing when it's closed
Show banners while using the app is a separate setting from the categories — see Manage notification settings.
A colleague gets them and you don't
Start with your phone’s own permission, since that’s the layer that differs per handset.
You only miss the email-document summaries
Those arrive as a twice-daily summary rather than one notification per document, so a quiet stretch is expected.
